VIRTUAL COUNSELING

Gear Shift Sessions

We offer education, guidance, clinically sound interventions, and a fresh perspective when needed to help you reach your desired goals towards a more fulfilling life

No need to figure out if our office is close enough or squeeze travel time in your schedule. Sessions are offered online through secure video conferencing software that’s extremely user friendly and designed to support you from the comfort of your home. You guessed it! If participating in relationship or family counseling, each of you can physically be located in separate locations and participate in the same session together.

Individual Counseling

How often do you appear to have it all together, but inside you are falling apart? Or maybe you’ve completely withdrawn out of fear of rejection and social anxiety. You go through life forcing a smile on your face, waiting for someone to notice you’re not really okay. You’re trying your best, but behind the mask you’re secretly insecure, and emotionally overwhelmed. It’s time to look within, heal your traumas, learn to cope effectively, and create a new normal. Becoming your best self depends on it.

Relationship/Family Counseling

Are you tired of being at odds with your partner or family member? What could be simple communication has turned into tense moments fueled by a lack of understanding of each other’s thoughts and feelings. You yearn to feel heard and would like your relationship to be much healthier than the current distressing state. The desire within you to “fix it” indicates the love that exists. It’s time to push aside who’s right or wrong and commit to aligning together to work at achieving the common goal of resolution. Each of you deserve it.

Specialities:

  • Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Stress, Domestic Abuse
  • Generational & Race-based Trauma, Self harm
  • Intimate Partner Violence, Gender/Racial Identity

VIRTUAL WELLNESS GROUPS

GDC Virtual Community

Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or a significant life transition; we encourage you to consider one of our support groups. Build community with others who can empathize with what you are going through, learn effective tools with a trained facilitator, and be reminded you’re not alone.

Our individual challenges have a way of convincing us that we’re the only one who struggles in this way. Overwhelm and stress causes you to withdraw and push through out of shame and feeling that no one understands, or is equipped, to help you in the way you need.

Each group includes downloadable slides, activities and meet through Zoom for a pre-determined amount of weeks and/or months. Once we’ve received a sign up request, more info will be emailed to you with next steps including the virtual meeting room link.

Frequently Asked Financial Questions

What insurances do you accept?

We only accept limited insurance carriers in our headquarter in the state of Missouri, all other states are self-pay.

Insurance coverage and co-payment amounts vary depending on your specific plan. Once we have confirmed your appointment request, you will receive an email to join our client portal.

In this portal, you can share documents with us. We ask that you upload a picture of the front and back of your insurance card at least 48 hours before your appointment. This is necessary so we can verify your insurance, otherwise, you will be required to pay out of pocket for your initial appointment.

Accepted insurance carriers (updated as we receive approvals):

United Healthcare

Cigna

Medicaid

Medicare

Home State Health

UHC Community Plan

Tricare

Note, every therapist does not accept the same insurances. Please review individual providers profiles

What if you don't accept my insurance?

If we do not accept your insurance provider or we don't have a therapist with availability to see your insurance type, your option will be to pay our sliding scale fee rates that are based on your income. A superbill (a detailed receipt that provides all necessary info for insurance reimbursement) can also be provided monthly.

With this superbill, you can potentially be reimbursed a percentage of the session fee if you have Out-of-Network benefits. When completing the Pre-Screen, select your appropriate income tier, indicate if you desire to use insurance, or explore rates beyond our sliding scale through The Access Initiative

How do I verify if I have Out-of-Network benefits?

You can call your insurance company to inquire so you can make a fully informed decision on how you'd like to proceed with care.

You can ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • Do I have coverage for telebehavioral health services?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many mental health sessions per calendar year does my insurance plan cover?
  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network mental health provider?
  • What’s the process to obtain reimbursement for therapy with an out-of-network provider?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
When will I be billed?

You card will be charged on the day of your appointment and a cancellation fee of the full service amount is enforced without a 24 hr cancellation.

What's the cancellation policy?

You are expected to provide a 24 hr notice of cancellation directly to your therapist. You will not be charged a cancellation fee if the appointment is rescheduled within a 7-day window from the original appointment time. However, if the therapist does not have availability within a 7-day window OR you fail to provide a 24 hr notice, you will be charged for the missed appointment.

Do you accept HSA cards?

Conveniently, individuals who have Health Savings Accounts (HSA) can pay for counseling services through this pre-taxed account. Entering one of these forms of payment will be required following the Pre-Screen when you request an appointment with one of our counselors. You card will be charged on the day of your appointment and a cancellation fee of the full service amount is enforced without a 24 hr cancellation. You will receive more info about our policies and procedures after requesting an appointment.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Effective January 1, 2022, a ruling went into effect called the "No Surprises Act" which requires licensed healthcare providers to provide a "Good Faith Estimate" regarding fees incurred through accessing Out-of-Network care as a self-paying client.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA), health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request, or at the time of scheduling health care items and services to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected charges.

This Act requires that we notify you of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by a non- insurance participating provider and provide options to receive care from an In-Network provider, if one is available to take new clients. Goal Driven Counseling is In-Network with several insurance companies; however, every provider does not accept the same insurances.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate within the following timeframes:

  • If the service is scheduled at least three business days before the appointment date, no later than one business day after the date of scheduling
  • If the service is scheduled at least 10 business days before the appointment date, no later than three business days after the date of scheduling; or
  • If an uninsured or self-paying client requests a Good Faith Estimate (without scheduling the service), no later than three business days after the date of the request.
