Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect in the first session?

During your first 1-2 sessions we will complete a thorough assessment. The assessment covers several areas in depth such as the presenting concern (what brought you in for counseling), family history, mental health history, school/or work performance, spirituality, etc. We will conclude the assessment by creating treatment goals and discussing your hopes as a result of our work together. Please electronically sign and return documents at least 24 hours before the first session so you can be familiar with the content. Record any questions you may have because they can be discussed during this time as well.

How should I prepare for the first session?

For the best connection and video quality, here are a few things to consider:

  • Make sure you are connected to Wifi.
  • Perform a speed test at www.speedtest.net to test your connection. Both the download and upload speeds should be higher than 3Mbps for the best experience. If your numbers show lower, try moving closer to the wifi router or connecting directly through an ethernet cord.
  • Lastly, you can disconnect other devices from your network to increase speed.
How long does counseling last?

The duration of counseling services is unique to the individual and will be agreed upon after a thorough assessment and creation of a goal plan. Typically, sessions are scheduled once weekly with the ability to decrease frequency to bi-weekly, and even monthly; depending upon the attainment of goals, improvement of symptoms, and needs for maintenance.

Frequently Asked Financial Questions

What insurances do you accept?

We only accept limited insurance carriers in our headquarter in the state of Missouri, all other states are self-pay.

Insurance coverage and co-payment amounts vary depending on your specific plan. Once we have confirmed your appointment request, you will receive an email to join our client portal.

In this portal, you can share documents with us. We ask that you upload a picture of the front and back of your insurance card at least 48 hours before your appointment. This is necessary so we can verify your insurance, otherwise, you will be required to pay out of pocket for your initial appointment.

Accepted insurance carriers:

Cigna

Medicaid

Home State Health

UHC Community Plan

Note, every therapist does not accept the same insurances. Please review individual providers profiles

What if you don't accept my insurance?

If we do not accept your insurance provider or we don't have a therapist with availability to see your insurance type, your option will be to pay our sliding scale fee rates that are based on your income. A superbill (a detailed receipt that provides all necessary info for insurance reimbursement) can also be provided monthly.

With this superbill, you can potentially be reimbursed a percentage of the session fee if you have Out-of-Network benefits. When completing the Pre-Screen, select your appropriate income tier, indicate if you desire to use insurance, or explore rates beyond our sliding scale through The Access Initiative

How do I verify if I have Out-of-Network benefits?

You can call your insurance company to inquire so you can make a fully informed decision on how you'd like to proceed with care.

You can ask:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

Do I have coverage for tele-mental health services?

What is my deductible and has it been met?

How many mental health sessions per calendar year does my insurance plan cover?

How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network mental health provider?

What’s the process to obtain reimbursement for therapy with an out-of-network provider?

What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

Is approval required from my primary care physician?

When will I be billed?
